There’s a lot of ways to change. Ugh I know, scary right? Changing is uncomfortable. If you haven’t done it for a while, it can be weird, hard and feel unnecessary. Yet change is what has made me happy. It’s what’s given me amazing friends, experiences and memories. If I don’t change, I feel myself decompose. The essence of Rebecca disappears. I’ve come to embrace change as one of the most amazing things that I can be subjected to and achieve.
It’s a funny thing, the more I change, the more I feel like myself. Call it finding yourself or whatever. Here are some of the ways that you can kickstart yourself and get out of that bubble of everyday, ordinary, regularly and familiar:
- Get a career mentor
- Leave something old behind
- Be an engaged mentor
- Spend time alone
- Spend time with new people and get to know them
- Speak in public
- Invest time in your hobbies
Doing stuff like this will help you find things you didn’t know you’d love. Some of them you’ll keep doing, they’ll become familiar but in a good sense. The things that you know will make you happy and feel well. Others will be good for the moment, and you can cherish those memories forever. They are not worth less just because they didn’t become a part of your everyday life.
