It’s been really nice to get out of town for a few days and clear my head. Starting a new job has been overwhelming in a lot of ways. I find myself constantly thinking about it, even in the middle of the night when I wake up to turn around. So just hopping on a bike and riding around in a new city kind of forced me to be more present and leave work behind.
It’s also hard to leave work behind, when it’s so much fun! I feel lucky to work with the people I do. And it’s not so weird that I experience this considering that I just moved my entire life to a completely new place – for my job. But distance is good in order to get some perspective and reload energy. So I highly recommend you to take a weekend to a new place and hop on a bike if you want to clear your head!
My manager is very pro reflection. And like she says: sometimes, if you dig deep enough, you’ll find gold. Bicycling around in Copenhagen I did a lot of reflecting on life, as I usually do. But this time around, I actually struck gold. I realized that right now, everything that I have in life works very well. That in itself is such an amazing feeling!
During my time as a student there where many things that might be cause for worry: like the financial situation, ability to keep student housing, need to get a good job etc. But there is nothing troubling me today.
So there you go. Bicycle + new town + reflection might equal gold!
